You veer off from the Everest trail from Namche Bazaar and head into the beautiful Gokyo valley, filled with icy glaciers and high altitude lakes. Along the way, you will pass Kalapatthar, from Kalapatther an amazing panoramic view of the Mt. Everest range can be observed. Then on, you head to the tented base camp. The summit attempts are made after spending the night at a high camp, perched on the south west ridge of Island peak. While descending, the views will certainly mesmerize you.
“Lobuche Peak (6119m)” There are two summits on this peak, the true summit and the false summit. It’s a very challenging mountain and few climbers actually reach the true summit, but the climb to the false summit is very worth while. The base camp for the south ridge is situated at a hidden ice lake at the base of the south west face 5,551m. The true summit is reached with some difficulty by gaining the notch and climbing up the difficult snow slope to the summit. This peak is considered as the hardest of trekking peaks. It is situated in the Everest region. It’s a challenging but highly rewarding climb. |
