The national currency of Nepal is the Nepalese rupee... it comes in note form in dominations of 5, 10, 20, 50 ,100 and 1000 rupees. In some cases you can find 25 rupee notes. Also you can get 1 and 2 rupee coins. 1 rupee is made up of 100 pasa. You can sometimes come across a5 0 pasa coin which is half a rupee and called a mohar.
The Nepal Rastra Bank (the national bank of Nepal) fixes exchange rate daily against all major currencies. Radio Nepal, Nepal Television, Nepali and English newspapers all announces the rate every morning.

Money can change officially at banks, hotel exchange counters and money changers authorized by Nepal Rastra Bank. Standard Chartered Bank Nepal and Himalayan Bank have special exchange counters.
