The base for this climb is a small valley just to the north of Manang and near to Thorong La. The best views of the peak can be had from Thorong La and a trek here is good acclimatization. The climb follows the north west ridge beyond the high yak pastures. Before you reach the ridge, you pass a hidden and beautiful valley where you make a site for your base camp. From the base camp, you have to ascend the steep scree slope that leads down from the main ridge. High camp can be set up at the base of the band of rock just below the snow line. The climb from here is a bit difficult, but there are several ropes fixed to the rock face. A narrow ridge leads to the summit where you will be rewarded with magnificent views.
